How much does appliance removal cost?
Appliance haul-away and appliance disconnection are different jobs. A useful quote names the appliance, explains its connections and identifies the path out.
The short answer
Angi lists a general major-appliance removal reference of $60–$250. That is a planning benchmark, not a price for disconnection or a guarantee that every appliance falls within the range.

Refrigerators, washers and dryers need different details
Identify the appliance precisely. A compact refrigerator is not the same pickup as a large side-by-side model. Include dimensions if known, and show stairs, basement doors or narrow passages in the photos.
Tell the company whether the appliance is freestanding, built in or stacked. If a washer and dryer both need to go, list both. Ask how the company handles items that cannot pass through a doorway without removing doors or other components.
Confirm disconnection before removal day
Ask whether the quote covers hauling only or includes any permitted preparation work. Do not assume the crew will disconnect gas, hardwired electrical connections or plumbing. Arrange appropriate help when the company does not provide that work.
Describe leaking units or other unusual conditions before the pickup. Empty refrigerators and freezers as instructed by the company, and keep the route accessible. Follow the provider’s preparation instructions rather than attempting unfamiliar disconnection work yourself.
Compare retailer haul-away, recycling and a junk crew
If a replacement is being delivered, ask the retailer about removing the old unit and read the exclusions. The offer may depend on the unit being disconnected, accessible or the same type as the replacement.
A local scrap or recycling option may be worth checking, but confirm acceptance and transport requirements. Do not assume scrap value makes collection free. For cooling appliances, ask the receiving company how the unit is handled rather than assuming it can go into ordinary mixed waste.
Get the whole job into the quote
Confirm the appliance count, pickup floor, carrying route and included disposal charges. Ask what happens if the crew discovers an access problem or an appliance is still connected when it arrives.
If the appliance is part of a larger cleanout, request a combined scope quote. Keep appliances named separately so special handling is not overlooked among boxes and furniture.

Common questions
Does refrigerator removal include disconnecting the water line?
Only if the provider explicitly includes that work. Ask before booking and arrange the necessary preparation separately when it is excluded.
Will someone take an old appliance for free?
Sometimes a retailer, recycler or recipient has an applicable offer, but confirm the terms. Pickup, access and appliance condition can affect eligibility.
Can appliances go in a rental dumpster?
Ask the dumpster company before loading. Acceptance and handling requirements depend on the appliance and the receiving facility.
